Soundstream - Julie’s Theme/Inferno

A smoking hot new 12” from Frank Timm’s Soundstream project that is flying out of record shops currently. ‘Julie’s Theme’ starts life as a stuttering melody that evolves slowly into a steady house groove, only to fall apart as soon as it really gets anywhere, taking on an altered rhythmic state that is equally jerky yet more confident in it’s pounding intent. It’s ruthlessly simple and in all honesty little more than a DJ tool but its a hell of a good one.

‘Inferno’ on the flip roars into action with a whirring air raid siren and classic disco stabs then quickly settles into a hypnotic funk bass groove topped with a soaring string melody and backed by a beefy kick drum. The elements here are by no means original, and in less capable hands the track could have been instantly forgettable but like fellow Hardwax associates MMM, Timm is a master of doing an awful a lot with very little and instead creates a piece of disco house dynamite that will stay in the DJ bag for years to come.

This has sold out practically everywhere but Rubadub & Bleep have copies left. Not one to sleep on.
